Lilium columbianum

Habit: this tall lily has a smooth, unbranched, erect stem with elongated oval leaves in whorls of 3-25, each leaf being 1-6 in (3-15 cm) long. The bell-shaped flowers are strikingly delicate having several per stem. The orange tepals curve backward revealing the purple spotted insides of the tepals and the tightly clustered large stamens that dangle downward. Blooms July to August.
Ecology: native to the Pacific Northwest and ranges over into Montana, tiger lily is found near the coast in meadows, prairies, thickets, and conifer forests up to 6,000 ft (1828 m).
Growing Conditions: full sun to partial shade, preferring moist soil with good organic content.
