Homeowners, do you want to help the environment, by providing nesting, foraging, and protection for wildlife? Do you want to aid in erosion prevention, save our rivers and improve the forest? You can, one plant at a time. Each year many of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Oregon have annual plant sales. They buy native plants in bulk, during the bareroot season, giving homeowners a chance to buy native plants. Below is a list of the SWCD that we provide plants for. All of the sites are full of information about their plant sale, planting natives, and other conservation happenings.
Benton Soil and Water Conservation District has a plant sale in early February each year, orders must be placed by mid January, visit their site for more information, as well as some great links for more ideas about planting natives.
Marion Soil and Water Conservation District hosts their plant sale at a local nursery in early March, check their website for more details. Proceeds from last year were donated as scholarships to students studying Natural Resources.
